After spells in the military and motor racing David Wilkie GCF opened The Eagle Gallery Epsom in 1993, an art gallery and picture framing workshop. The business grew quickly, particularly the picture framing side, requiring extra staff and a move to larger premises in 1995.

David soon established a reputation for innovation, attention to detail and quality craftsmanship pushing the boundaries of design and convention.

He was a finalist in his first national framing competition, 1997, and won the following year. In the subequent years David has been a consistent finalist and winner of numerous contests the most recent win being for computerised mount cutting(CMC) and design run by Gunnar International.

He was one of the first to qualify as a Guild Commended Framer(GCF) in 1994 and went on to become a Guild examiner for the London area. As well as running The Eagle Gallery David has also lectured and demonstrated on framing for the Fine Art Trade Guild, trade shows and suppliers in the industry. He has also written articles for trade magazines Art Business Today, Picture Framing Magazine and The Picture Business. David is currently an instructor at the Wessex Framing School.

2016 saw a relocation from South London to Silverstone, back to his roots in racing and a new venture.

Awards

David Wilkie GCF has won numerous framing awards since entering the industry and is one of the most successful framers in the country. He has also trained a number of framers who have been finalists or winners in major competitions.

David has also been a finalist or commended in over twenty additional competitions organised by the Fine Art Trade Guild, Picture Business Magazine, Glass & Mirror, Willow Foundation and Gunnar International.
